One of the questions we get at KixCare is, “who are the healthcare professionals in the Kix360° program, and how do they support my family?”

For those who don’t know, Kix360° is designed so that our KixFamily’s initial and primary contact is our pediatric Registered Nurse (RN), followed by a Nurse Practitioner (NP), and lastly, a Pediatrician.

To answer this question, the best place to start would be to go through the differences between our healthcare professionals and their roles in pediatric healthcare.

Registered Nurse (RN)

Registered Nurses (RN) have a 4-year university degree in nursing, which provides them with training on diseases and illnesses, symptoms, interventions and treatments, and how to provide overall patient care.

They can make nursing diagnoses, recommend over-the-counter medications and interventions, and provide health teaching and promotion.

RNs can triage the level and urgency of the care needed for another provider and knows how to navigate the healthcare system. They play an essential role in leading the care at Kix360° and work alongside the Nurse Practitioners and Pediatricians to ensure high-quality health care and 24/7 access for our KixFamilies.

Nurse Practitioners (NP)

Nurse Practitioners are RNs with an additional 2 years of education and training to obtain their master’s and NP credentials.

They can diagnose, order diagnostic testing, prescribe medication, and make specialized referrals.

NPs hold a similar scope of practice as family doctors do. They are essential to the Kix360° team to support urgent care and other health and wellness concerns that our KixFamilies may have.

Pediatricians

Pediatricians are doctors who spend an additional 4-6 years specializing in infant, children, and adolescent care.

They are specialized experts in pediatric health and wellness; other doctors refer to them to help care for and manage their patients aged 0-17.

Pediatricians are passionate about advocating for children’s health and wellness and have advanced knowledge of best practices and care for children ages 0-17.

The Kix360° Care and Experience

Now that we have highlighted our team of pediatric healthcare experts, let us explain the Kix360° care and experience that you receive when you become part of our KixFamily.

Our team of KixNurses practice to their full RN scope when supporting a KixFamily. They are the initial and primary contact within the Kix360° service. They help support our KixFamilies throughout all health and wellness concerns by providing assessments, managing illnesses and symptoms, and providing the support needed to empower our KixFamilies to prevent unnecessary trips to the emergency department.

Our KixNurses are educated and trained to triage our KixFamilies to our NPs and Pediatricians whenever needed to provide our families with the whole Kix360° healthcare experience. They also support and encourage proactive care such as growth, development, nutrition, and mental health to ensure our care is not just reactive healthcare.

In other words, Kix360° gives parents the option to invest in their children’s health and wellness journey on a day-to-day basis instead of just seeking help when something goes wrong.

Through the Kix360° care and experience, we hope to encourage a new mentality concerning children’s health and show the importance of valuing your child’s healthcare journey at every stage of their development.
